Nurses of the 13th Field Hospital are enjoying chow, picture taken on Omaha Beach. The 13th was the first Field Hospital to land on June 7, 1944 and due to a congested and only partially organized beachhead, only went into operation June 10
Cette fois vous pouvez voir a quoi ressemblaient nos jolies nurses au débarquement en Normandie. Il s'agit en effet du 13th Field Hospital fut le 1er hôpital mobile qui arriva à Omaha Beach le 7 juin 1944.
Elles portent le "Tankiste" qui n'a subit aucune modification par rapport au modèle masculin. contrairement à la Field jacket M43.
Elles sont magnifiques les filles et avec le sourire !! (Pourtant c'était pas facile tous les jours !!! )

Il s'agit donc du 10th field hospital qui arriva sur le terrain le 19 mars 1943 pour faire la Tunisie, la Sicile et l'Italie. Elles furent transférées en France le 1 novembre 1944.
C'est sans doute un de mes photos préférée !! La tenue HBT largement utilisée par les nurses en hôpital mobile accompagnée des bottes de sauts "homme" mais en petite pointure, ou avec bottines et guetres. Les guetres n'étaient pas très appréciées par le personnel féminin. Elles étaient difficiles à supporter, favorisant les démangeaisons et les varices. )
